Gynecomastia Surgery Before and After Photos
If you would like to see the types of results you can expect, Dr. Garza can share real patient before and after photos with you during your consultation.
What To Expect From Your Gynecomastia Surgery
Dr. Garza performs male breast reduction as an outpatient procedure. You can return home the same day, but you will need someone to drive you home and take care of you for a day or two. You will be under general anesthesia for the procedure, so you will sleep through your surgery.
This procedure surgically removes glandular tissue and sometimes excess fat or skin from the chest. Dr. Garza typically makes an incision around the areola (the darker skin around the nipple) for scars that are practically invisible. The surgery usually lasts 1 to 2 hours.
A Reputation Built on Results
Built on Results
Gynecomastia results can sometimes be enhanced by adding other treatments or procedures. Dr. Garza will help you determine if adding any of these would help you achieve your goals.
- Abdominoplasty, also called a tummy tuck, helps men with excess fat and skin in the abdominal area to have a smoother, firmer torso.
- Liposuction is often used to enhance male breast reduction by sculpting the adjacent areas.
Gynecomastia Surgery Recovery
After surgery, Dr. Garza closes the incisions with sutures and surgical tape. Your chest will be bandaged for support, and you will be sent home with detailed post-surgical instructions. Any stitches will be removed after a few days.
Recovery lasts between 1 and 3 weeks, depending on the extent of your surgery. You will be sore and swollen for a few days, and Dr. Garza can prescribe medication to help you manage any discomfort. You may experience temporary bruising that should fade within a week or so.
You can resume light activities after a few days and strenuous activity in 3 to 4 weeks, depending on how sore you feel. You should limit direct sun exposure for several months to avoid permanent discoloration of the scars.
